What People are saying about McIntyre Contracting in Point Lookout, NY
"We couldn’t wait to build our dream house in Pt. Lookout, NY. One of the most important decisions when building a house is choosing the right contractor. John McIntyre’s fine reputation as a builder proceeded him and we were thrilled at the prospect of working together. John truly is a master craftsman. Every detail is important to him, from the intricacies of a roofline, to the perfection of a coffered ceiling, to the right stain color for the floors. He even found a piece of re-claimed wood from an old Brooklyn warehouse that he fashioned into a bar/counter top after becoming dissatisfied with our other wood options. John doesn’t stop until both he and his client are satisfied. His workmanship and quality is equally matched by his honesty and integrity. John came in on time (under horrible weather conditions), on budget and delivered the best possible house we could ever have imagined.
We enjoyed the experience so much that we hosted a thank you party at the end of the project for John, his crew, subs and their wives. They became like family. In fact, our experience felt much like the Wizard of Oz. Throughout the project, as we worked together, each person played a role, from the Scarecrow, to the Tin Man, to the Cowardly Lion but at the end of the day there was only one man that could make our dream home come true and that was the Wizard himself, the occasionally grumpy one behind the curtain, who we proudly call our builder, our contractor and our friend, John McIntyre. Thanks John, There’s No Place Like Home!"

"After deciding to completely rebuild our home in Lido Beach, I interviewed several local builders and selected John McIntyre. My decision was based on references from friends of mine who are tradesmen and have worked with John, viewing other homes he built and hearing those owners talk about their experiences, and my strong impression after getting to know John that he was best-suited to make sure project would be done on-budget and on-schedule. In the fall of 2008 we signed a contract and he immediately commenced demo on my old house.
Throughout the project John was intimately involved in every decision, and communicated options to me regularly. He worked very effectively with my architect, and John's suggestions were the basis of several critical design improvements that were incorporated. One impression that lingers was how John was respected by all the sub-contractors; every worker from every sub put in long hard days, and it was evident that they all had additional pressure to make sure McIntyre was not disappointed. Finally, John's ability to schedule materials and labor was very impressive. It always seemed that the day one phase of the project was complete, the necessary materials and labor for the next phase showed up the next morning. That was how we met our aggressive schedule.
The end result is a beautiful, sturdy, efficient home my family loves. I own and invest in residential real estate, and see a lot of high-end homes, condos, etc. The craftsmanship and quality John built into my Lido house is clearly superior to all else I see out there. John's a high-integrity guy, and he's the real-deal if you are looking to build a quality home."

"I am extremely happy to have this opportunity to recommend John Mclntrye for any construction project. I have had the good fortune to work with John on two jobs. Twenty years ago he completely renovated my house. Two years ago he built a house from scratch. On both projects John was the consummate contractor in every respect.
John's many years of experience and professional approach are evident in every aspect of the job. This starts when John bids a job. His bids are always a fair assessment of the price and time required to complete the job. John works together with the client to determine the exact level of finish and the potential use of new materials and methods.
From the moment that John takes on a job he takes complete responsibility for every detail. The jobsite is always clean and safe as well as protected from weather and other eventualities. He supervises the work of his employees as well as that of all the subcontractors who work on the project. John only hires people who work according to his standards. I have several friends who are very familiar with construction. When they walked through my house during construction everyone was in awe — no one had ever seen such quality work. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing etc are all state of the art.
John's signature is his attention to detail and commitment to quality. He takes enormous pride in every thing he does. The job does not end when the house is complete. John continues to be available for service calls, advice and help whenever necessary.
Anyone who is considering a construction job realizes that it is a major undertaking. It is a large financial endeavor with many expectations. It is imperative to be able to trust the general contractor. I cannot say enough about John. Throughout the entire job one does not feel that he is just "the contractor." John feels like an equally invested partner in the job. John works, volunteers and lives in Point Lookout. All of his work reflects his commitment to the community."
